Dreams. Astral projection. Are they tied together or are they completely foreign to each other?
About 15 years ago, or so, I began having a recurring dream. It isn't exactly the same every time, but the overall feel, experience, and symbols are the same. Let me try to explain.
The first time I had this dream I found myself standing in the kitchen of my old apartment in Taunton, MA. I was standing by the stove and staring off toward the front door. I suddenly thought--no knew-- I wasn't alone in the room. I heard and felt something walking up behind me. As it got closer, I could hear it whispering something that I couldn't make out. Suddenly, I felt it enter my body, raise me off the ground, and drag me away. That's when I woke up. You might think that after such a dream I might jump scare myself awake. But, as with every time since then, I simply opened my eyes slowly, all the hairs on from my knees to my hips standing on end, the feeling of not being alone in the room fading as I wake up.
It continues for years. The encounters seem to get stronger and more violent each time. In another instance, I was standing on the landing between the upstairs and downstairs of an ex-girlfriend's house. In my dream, I said to myself (this was the beginning of my trek into lucid dreaming, mind you) as I looked at the basement door at the bottom of the stairs, "I haven't had that feeling in a long time. If I go down there and open that door, I know I will again." So, of course, I went down and opened the door. (This is the first experience I can remember when the incident took place in a basement. Now it almost always takes place in a basement, or occasionally in my childhood bedroom.) I walked about three steps into the basement and there was no feeling of anything slowly walking up behind me. Instead, this force hit me hard, lifted me in the air, and dragged me toward a crawl space in the wall. I slammed my right foot into the wall to stop myself from being dragged and that is when I woke up. Again, eyes slowly opening, the thought of not being alone slowly leaving.
There are plenty more examples of this dream phenomena that I will save for further posts. What I will say is, now I fight back in my dreams. I've taken an active role in fighting this force as it tries to grab me. Now it doesn't just lift me and drag me away. Oftentimes I find myself slammed into the ceiling before being dropped. As someone who used to be heavily into paranormal podcasting groups and have had chats with paranormal authors, it seems to be universal that they do not believe this is a ghost, but a screen memory for alien abduction. I am not saying I believe that completely, but it has made me wonder.
So, what do you think? Alien abduction? A haunting on the astral plane? Just a dream? I have plenty more stories to come. Subscribe to the site to be notified when new blog postings come up. And, please fellow reader, feel free to interact with these posts. Tell me your recurring dream/nightmare. I look forward to reading it. Stay spooky!
